Ventura
County Rescue Mission is Ventura County's leading provider
of services for homeless men, women, and children. The
goal of the mission is to equip people to lead productive
and independent lives. The mission offers food, shelter,
and clothing to meet basic needs. In addition, the mission
offers a comprehensive residential recovery program
for men and includes substance abuse recovery, vocational
training, computer skills training, and relapse prevention.
The mission began providing food, shelter, and clothing
to the needy in 1972 as the Oxnard Rescue Mission. In
1989, its name changed to the Ventura County Rescue
Mission to better align with the expansion of services
countywide. In 1998, the mission completed a new 125
bed facility to house its emergency shelter and residential
substance abuse recovery program. The mission provides
25 beds of transitional housing for graduates of the
residential recovery program.
