About the Ventura County Rescue Mission

Since 1972, the Ventura County Rescue Mission has served the poor and homeless, offering hope to literally thousands of hurting people. It is the longest standing year-round shelter for homeless men in Ventura County.
The mission began providing food, shelter, and clothing to the needy as the Oxnard Rescue Mission. In 1989, its name changed to the Ventura County Rescue Mission to better align with the expansion of services countywide. In 1998, the mission completed a new 125 bed facility to house its emergency shelter and residential substance abuse recovery program. The mission also provides 25 beds of transitional housing for graduates of the residential recovery program.
