Programs
San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission consists of two programs, which provide hope and opportunities for homeless individuals and families to recover from their circumstances and begin the process of restoring their lives. These programs include:
The Family Shelter Program
The Family Shelter program is conveniently located at 13422 Saticoy Street in North Hollywood, California, directly across from a large public transportation center. Agency referrals to the shelter program include social service agencies, churches, schools, and hospitals. With a current capacity of 28 beds, the program serves homeless families throughout the San Fernando Valley. A case management plan for each family is developed based on intake information, assessment, and interviews. Each restoration plan includes short and/or long-term goals of recovery, rehabilitation, vocational training, employment preparation, housing, and many other goals depending on each family’s needs.
Rescue S.O.S.
Rescue S.O.S. seeks to accommodate the most disproportionate unmet health-related needs of specific populations in the community by providing the basic essentials of food, blankets, showers, and hygiene kits daily in areas of the San Fernando Valley where chronic homeless individuals are known to congregate. Serving up to 50 individuals daily, Rescue S.O.S. is often the only point of contact and connection a person may have with support services. The consistency of the outreach along with no requirements to receive services helps to restore their confidence in public and private social services. Rescue S.O.S. is not only providing the basics of food, clothing, showers, and hygiene items, but is also an immediate and direct link between hospital services, clinic services, other health-related services, and community-based services and the streets by providing case management, coordination with the various agencies, and transportation directly to them.
