Sobering Study on Homelessness in Santa Barbara County
August 2010 - The study reveals the number of homeless in the county is growing and overwhelming housing and outreach support services. It included all homeless deaths in Santa Barbara County between January 2009 and March 2010. During that 15 month period, 45 homeless people died, some of them victims of accidents on the train tracks, others victims of violence. Read the rest of the story
Latkin Foundation Supports Homeless Outreach in Santa Maria
May 2010 - The Herbert and Gertrude Latkin Charitable Foundation continues its partnership with the Central Coast Rescue Mission through a generous $2,500 grant toward Rescue S.O.S. to help people in need. The foundation’s contribution will help the mission provide food, clothing, hygiene items, and other assistance for homeless men, women, and children in Santa Maria.
Bank of America Foundation - Making a Difference
March 2010 - The Bank of America Charitable Foundation is truly making a difference in the lives of homeless men, women, and children in Santa Maria through its generous support of the Central Coast Rescue Mission. A $2,500 grant received from the foundation will help to provide food, clothing, and hygiene items for hundreds of people in need.
Berakah Foundation “Blesses” Central Coast
January 2010 - The name Berakah literally means “blessing,” and the Berakah Foundation continues to show its support and truly exemplify its name by “blessing” the Central Coast Rescue Mission again this year with a generous $16,335 grant award. The grant will be used to cover the cost of new beds, mattresses, dressers, and wardrobes for mission’s residential substance abuse program for men.
Wood Claeyssen’s Foundation Funds Central Coast
November 2009 - The Wood Claeyssen’s Foundation awarded the Central Coast Rescue Mission a very generous, first time grant of $35,000 in support of its residential substance abuse program. Funding will be used for general operating costs to facilitate the program. The foundation supports numerous social services throughout Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties through its philanthropic efforts. Read the news article
The Central Coast Rescue Mission Serves up Thanksgiving Dinner
November 2009 - Thanksgiving dinner was served up a week early in Santa Maria. The Central Coast Rescue Mission, held its annual Thanksgiving dinner at the Veterans Memorial Building on Friday. The Mission served up turkey and graving with all the fixings to about 500 people.
The rescue mission will hold a similar event for Christmas, when they expect to serve about 1500 people.
Woods Family Continues Support for the Central Coast Rescue Mission
October 2009 - The Edwin & Jeanne Woods Family Foundation awarded a $7,000 grant to the Central Coast Rescue Mission in support of a much needed roof replacement. The generous and on-going support of the Woods Family Foundation has made it possible for the mission to complete several projects in the past three years which include a new heating and air conditioning system, a learning center for the residential recovery program, as well as providing operating support for the programs and services that we offer to the community. |
